Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully as they explain the conditions that apply when using this website and information about Chapter One Counselling services.

Last updated: 22 September 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service apply to your use of the Chapter One Counselling website and to information about services made available through this website.

By using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the website.

Chapter One Counselling is based in Alexandria, Sydney, New South Wales and provides counselling, psychotherapy and related professional services, including in-person appointments and telehealth where available.

These Terms should be read together with the Chapter One Counselling Privacy Policy.

2. Information on this website

The information on this website is provided for general information about Chapter One Counselling, the services I offer and the therapeutic approaches that may form part of my work.

Website content is not intended to provide personal medical, psychological or mental health advice, diagnosis or emergency support, and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice that takes your individual circumstances into account.

Information about a particular therapy or therapeutic approach does not mean that it will necessarily be suitable for you. The most appropriate approach will depend on your circumstances, preferences and therapeutic goals.

3. Therapy and professional services

I provide therapy on an individual and person-centred basis. Services may include psychotherapy, counselling, ADHD support, clinical hypnotherapy, trauma-informed approaches and other therapeutic approaches described on this website.

I also provide eligible NSW Workers Compensation counselling and professional social work supervision where applicable.

The nature and suitability of any service will be discussed with you as appropriate. Information provided through the website does not itself establish a therapist-client relationship.

Any separate informed consent, service or clinical arrangements discussed with you in connection with therapy will operate alongside these Terms.

4. No guarantee of a particular outcome

Therapy is a collaborative and individual process. Outcomes can vary from person to person, and no particular therapeutic, psychological, personal or other result can be guaranteed.

Any discussion of therapeutic approaches, research, evidence or potential benefits on this website is provided for general information and should not be interpreted as a promise that a particular outcome will occur.

5. Crisis and emergency support

Chapter One Counselling is not a crisis or emergency service, and website enquiries and email are not monitored continuously.

If you or another person is in immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000).

For 24/7 crisis support in Australia, you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.

6. Telehealth services

Where telehealth is available, appointments may be provided using an appropriate online communication platform.

You are responsible for having a suitable device, internet connection and private environment where possible when attending by telehealth.

Technology can occasionally be interrupted or unavailable. If a technical problem affects an appointment, the appropriate next step can be discussed at the time.

Telehealth availability may also depend on your circumstances, location and whether online delivery is considered appropriate for the service being provided.

7. Medicare, referrals and third-party funding

Some clients may be eligible for Medicare rebates with an appropriate referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan. Eligibility, referral requirements and rebate arrangements are determined by Medicare and may change.

Eligible services may also be provided under the NSW Workers Compensation system where the relevant requirements, approvals and claim arrangements are satisfied.

Information on this website about Medicare, SIRA, Workers Compensation, insurers or other external schemes is general information only.

Chapter One Counselling does not control the eligibility criteria, approvals, rebates, payments or decisions made by these external organisations and cannot guarantee that a claim, rebate or third-party payment will be approved.

8. Fees and payments

Any applicable fees for professional services will be communicated before or in connection with the provision of those services.

You are responsible for amounts payable by you unless another payment arrangement has been confirmed, such as an eligible Medicare rebate or approved third-party funding arrangement.

Nothing in these Terms creates a separate cancellation or rescheduling policy.

9. Your responsibilities

When using this website or engaging with Chapter One Counselling, you agree to provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and to use the website and its communication channels lawfully and respectfully.

You should only provide information through an enquiry that is reasonably necessary for us to understand and respond to your request.

10. Privacy and confidentiality

The handling of personal information through this website is governed by the Chapter One Counselling Privacy Policy.

Professional confidentiality and any applicable limits or exceptions to confidentiality are also subject to relevant professional, ethical and legal obligations and may be discussed with you as part of the therapeutic process.

These Terms do not replace or override the Privacy Policy or any separate informed consent arrangements.

11. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the text, branding, graphics, layout and original website content on this website are owned by or licensed to Chapter One Counselling and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may view and use the website for personal and informational purposes.

You must not reproduce, republish, commercially exploit or substantially copy website content without permission, except where permitted by law.

12. Third-party websites and services

This website may contain links to external websites or services, including government agencies, professional bodies, maps, social platforms or other third-party resources.

These external services are operated independently of Chapter One Counselling. I am not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices or changes to information they provide.

A link to an external website does not necessarily constitute endorsement of everything contained on that website.

13. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, consumer guarantee, remedy or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

Where the Australian Consumer Law applies, services are subject to applicable consumer guarantees, including that services be provided with due care and skill.

14. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Chapter One Counselling is not responsible for loss resulting solely from reliance on general information contained on this website rather than advice appropriate to your individual circumstances.

Nothing in this section limits liability or responsibility that cannot lawfully be limited, including rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.

15. Concerns and complaints

If you have a concern about a service you have received, you are encouraged to raise it directly with Chapter One Counselling where you feel comfortable doing so, so that the concern can be considered and responded to.

Depending on the nature of the concern, external complaint options may also be available.

The NSW Health Care Complaints Commission accepts complaints about health services and both registered and non-registered health practitioners in New South Wales, including counsellors.

Where applicable, concerns about the professional conduct of an AASW member social worker may also be eligible for consideration through the Australian Association of Social Workers' Ethics Complaints Management Process.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected by this section.

16. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the website, services, business practices or applicable requirements.

The current version will be published on this page with its most recent update date.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights you may have under Australian law.
